About Attovar

Attovar finds retirement money people left at old jobs, using the public record.

Almost every workplace retirement plan files an annual report with the U.S. Department of Labor. Together those reports show how plans merge, move money, change record keepers and end. We read 17 years of them, follow each plan to whoever holds its money today, and draft the letters that make the plan answer.

We built it after tracing a hospital residency plan that the government's standard dataset had left out. The money had moved twice. The filings showed where.

How we make money

Searches, reports and letters are free. People who want us to handle the follow-up pay a flat fee. Estates pay a flat fee for a screen through their attorney. We never take a share of money recovered, and we don't pay or take referral fees.

What we don't do

• We never ask for a Social Security number, date of birth or account number.
• We never hold or move anyone's money.
• We don't give legal or tax advice.
